Seat Alhambra Key Problems
Seat's family MPV jumbo is one of the best in the class in terms of conserving resale value. And with a brand new model now available, it's even better.
There are a myriad of reasons the key fob won't perform as it should, including a dead coin battery, damage to the receiver module, or signal interference. This article will walk you through the steps necessary to fix it.
Water Damage
If your key fob for the seat alhambra survives the wash cycle or a dip in the ocean or in a pool, then it is equipped with a waterproof chip. But, you shouldn't do this often because prolonged exposure to water can increase the chance of the key fob being damaged. If your key fob ceases to functioning after exposure to rain or clean tap water, take out the battery and clean the electronic component using a towel. Dry it completely before replacing the battery. If the key fob has been exposed to soapy or salty water, it is recommended that you clean the chip with isopropyl or electronic cleaner.
Faulty Receiver Module
If the key fob will not lock or unlock after you have replaced the battery of the button it is possible that the receiver module has a fault. It is a relatively easy and cost-effective fix. You can remove the battery that is 12 volts for a couple of minutes (first remove negative cable, then press the horn a few times) to drain any remaining electricity. Then reconnect it in reverse. Positive first and then negative.
ESP Warning Light - If the ESP symbol flashes, this is normal. It means that you are driving over terrain that has poor traction. This could be due to gravel, snow or surface water. If the ESP light is constantly on, it means that there is a fault in the system. It is possible to identify the problem with a iCarsoft i908 seat OBD code reader kit. The Keylab will provide detailed information about the fault.
Dead Coin Battery
One of the most frequent reasons for the seat alhambra key not working is a dead coin battery. The key fob is powered by a small button-cell battery. It is recommended to replace it with a replacement that is the same size, voltage, and specification as the original. If you're replacing the battery ensure that you remove all metal retaining clips from the back of the key fob and make sure that the contact points are clean and free of corrosion.
If the key fob was exposed to water, like rain or soapy water, it's recommended that you remove the battery and clean the electronic chip using isopropyl alcohol or an electronic cleaner prior to putting in the new battery. The chip is sensitive to moisture and can be permanently damaged. If the key fob still not working after replacing the battery, it may be necessary to replace the entire key fob.
Faulty Receiver Module
If your key fob has stopped working after you replaced the battery, but it did not help, or if it just stopped working without notice The receiver module could have developed a fault. The receiver module receives radio frequency signals from your remote keyfob, and transforms them into electrical signals which are then used by other modules inside the car.
If the receiver module is faulty and is not able to take any commands from your remote key fob. In this situation you'll need to visit a dealer for reprogramming your key fob and new receiver module.
The key fob is encased with rubber to stop water from entering the electronic chip. However, if you submerge your key fob in soapy water or salty ocean water, the chips inside could be damaged. If your key fob isn't able to work, you can try cleaning the chip using isopropyl or an electronic cleaner.
If the keys have been successfully paired, but your receiver module isn't working then you can restart all the electronics on board by disconnecting the battery at 12 volts for few minutes. Connect the battery in reverse (negative cable to positive first). This resets all the on-board electronics and should restore their functionality.
Faulty electronic chip
The key fob houses an electronic chip that transmits a signal to the receiver module whenever the key is used. If the signal isn't in line with the one that the car has stored the immobilizer is disabled and stop the car from starting. If the key fob isn't working, and you can't reprogram it the issue could be due to a faulty chip.
The chip inside the key fob isn't a permanent part of the device and might have to be replaced to get it to work again. The most effective method for doing this is to remove the key from its housing and using a pin needle to make contact with each of the retaining clips made of steel. If they are corroded or damaged, you'll have to replace them to allow the remote control to work. Make sure that the replacement batteries have the same size, voltage and specification as the original one.

For instance some owners have encountered problems with the automatic climate control system, which may become faulty and stuck in a particular setting. Similarly, the infotainment system has also been known to malfunction and freeze screens.
